Right now I am in school to become a U.S history teacher and you just have to take lots of history courses and education courses and then you will take a certification for teaching.

To become a history teacher, you should major in Secondary Social Studies Education. This major will set you up with a teaching certificate from grades 6-12 in any history subject you choose. To gain knowledge in American History, I would suggest focusing your elective classes on anything that has to do with your chosen subject area.

I would consider studying history at a well regarded liberal arts college. Then you can apply to masters and PhD programs.

Many times because we love history does not an we can be the best people to teach, but if you love helping others, plus love working with kids or youth then the teaching position will be great for you plus the love of history. I thought I wanted to be a teacher and the first thing I did was to applied for a job working with children during the summer and that job helped me to understand that teaching was not a match for me during that time. So is very important to try out different jobs that involved your passion for History and even volunteer working with the youth or seek advised what careers can you do with History.
Thanks, and if I do teach american history I want to teach 8th grade:)

You could pursue being a medflight pilot, and if that doesn't work out, you could become a teacher. No matter what, keep reading history and learning it. Knowing history prevents hysteria over current events.
