Great Question Ankit,
VIRTUAL VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES
Volunteer Canada is listing virtual volunteering opportunities that are connected to local volunteer centres. This is because volunteer centres know the organizations in their communities and are vetting the opportunities for safety and quality. It's volunteering done online, via computers, tablets, or smartphones, usually off-site from the non-profit organization being supported. More and more, organizations are engaging people who want to contribute their skills and time via the Internet.
VIRTUAL VOLUNTEERING BENEFITS
Virtual volunteers can complete one-time, short-term or ongoing tasks and projects. You may choose to volunteer once to write a blog, over a few months to design a website or on an ongoing basis as a tutor supporting a student(s) for one hour per week over a school year. Virtual volunteering is flexible, often allowing you to complete a task or project around your own schedule. Here are some examples:
• Photography
• Graphic Design
• Proofreading Documents
• Social Media Posting
• Mentoring/Tutoring
VIRTUAL VOLUNTEERING SKILLS
Consider the types of skills and talents you would like to share or learn through your volunteering and match them to the needs of a non-profit organization. Many opportunities are skills-based and can include pro bono projects. As with any volunteer opportunity, there are steps to ensure a good match and a safe experience for the volunteer and the non-profit organization. Some opportunities require specific expertise and screening, others don’t. Depending on the position or task, this may include some or all of the following:
• Completing an online application form
• Sending your resume and references
• Meeting/connecting for an interview
• Completing an online orientation
• Participating in position-specific training
5 VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES ANKIT
Many volunteer centres across the country have volunteer matching platforms where individuals can find and apply to virtual volunteer opportunities online. Here are a few to help you get started. If there is a specific organization you are interested in, check their website for a listing of virtual volunteer opportunities below.
VOLUNTEER OTTAWA – https://www.volunteerottawa.ca/
VOLUNTEER TORONTO – https://www.volunteertoronto.ca/networking/opening_search.asp
VOLUNTEER ACTION CENTER – https://volunteerwr.ca/index.php
PILLAR NONPROFIT NETWORK – https://pillarnonprofit.ca/volunteer
• Click Virtual Volunteering under Position Activity
VOLUNTEER MBC – https://vmbc.volunteerattract.com/Listings.php

Hope this helpful Ankit

My answer to this question is actually pretty ironic because I am answering questions on this website to earn service hours. For every 3 questions that you answer on this website, you earn 1 hour of community service! I've found that this is a great way to do the hours because I can do it during quarantine and it feels like I'm actually doing something that helps people.

Hello Ankit,
Hope you are doing great! You could set up a LinkedIn profile which would help to market what you are looking for. Additionally, you could search opportunities which may exist on LinkedIn at various medical facilities in your area. Hope this helps!

I would ask an advisor/counselor at your school--- unfortunately you aren't the only one going through this. There are many virtual/remote opportunities. And I would also set up a LinkedIn account and network through that.

I assume you are trying to complete your high school requirement of 40 volunteer hours? Look at your school board's website and they should have recommendations of volunteer opportunities. Many of these won't be online though:
https://www.ddsb.ca/en/programs-and-learning/community-involvement-hours.aspx
You could also check here to see if there are any online volunteer opps. Recommendation: Try to think of a volunteer opps that are in your area of interest for further education (you mention pre-med above, so medical, hospital, etc.)
http://www.informdurham.com/volunteer/

Check your local community newspaper or website to see if there are local volunteering opportunities in your area. I know in my community ( in the US) we have listings for organizations that are looking for volunteers, even now during the pandemic. Since you are premed, are there opportunities for you to volunteer with blood donation centers in your area?
