Kim’s Answer

Hi Maria!

I am not going to answer your question, because, I want to address another point that often takes many years to come to understand. That is, it really doesn't matter how much money you make, the question is how much money you spend.

(to a point - once you pass the basic threshold. . . ) So, I have known people who made more in a month than I made in a year. But because of their lifestyle choices, they lived precariously close to having to file for bankruptcy (huge houses, private jet, private yacht, country club membership, really nice cars, designer wardrobe, private schools for the kids, etc). Please keep this in mind!

Secondly, where you live matters a lot. Jobs that look like they don't pay much, in places like McAllen Texas, will give you a much higher standard of living than low-end six figure salaries in NYC. Google cost of living calculators and you can compare various cities.

Third, there might be some easy jobs that pay a lot, but, keep in mind the hours and working conditions. For example, nurses in hospitals traditionally work 12 hour shifts. Electric linemen (line-people?) get called out during storms. Sometimes more is expected of you, in unpredictability, even if the job is relatively easy. If you are one who wants to be able to go home and not be disturbed, that is something to keep in mind.

Finally, I encourage you to start now with evaluating how you personally define "happiness" and "success." I say this because too many people go through life chasing both, not realizing they have already found it. While many people teach about reaching goals and setting the next one, sometimes there's nothing wrong with realizing the goal and then enjoying what you have achieved.

Hope some of this makes sense!

Dexter’s Answer

Hi Maria,

I think some things that are easy to some people aren't necessarily easy to others. For example, because of the extended time off, a lot of people think teaching jobs are "easy", but frankly, it's a job that would not be easy for me. My mother's dream job is to be a postal worker delivering mail, because she doesn't mind driving and she loves walking. That's a job that I would find, well, unfulfilling. Some people think being an artist or a dancer is easy, but I would personally put those jobs at the most difficult, at least for me to do.

So, what do you like to do Maria? What makes you tick? What projects in school do you find yourself excelling at? What topics are school make you want to go that extra detail or two, not because the assignment demands it, but because working on it brings you joy?

I think only you can answer the job for what would be easy for you to do for your career, which for most people is for your whole life. I think it's about impossible to answer this question for most of us on this website who do not know who you are.

I wish you the best of luck, and I hope you stay safe!

Maria as the economy rebounds from the recent recession, NYC anticipates the need for real estate brokers will increase 7% from 2020-2028, which is faster than national average, may I suggest a Real Estate Broker.

REAL ESTATE BROKER
Real estate brokers work with real estate agents and financial institutions to buy and sell properties. Brokers oversee real estate companies and usually supervise real estate agents who make sales on behalf of the company. Many brokers manage a large number of agents and earn a brokerage fee for every sale an agent makes. To be licensed as a broker, workers need to complete real estate training programs or earn bachelor's degrees in real estate. They also need anywhere from 1-3 years of sales agent experience.

REAL ESTATE BROKER EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Although real estate brokers can choose to earn undergraduate degrees related to real estate and finance, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) states that a high school diploma is the minimum educational requirement for this career field. Nevertheless, licensing guidelines in most states require applicants to complete postsecondary coursework related to real estate and finance. Real estate undergraduate courses include real estate law, property management, real estate investments, real estate appraisal, and property development. Several universities also provide real estate certificate programs, some of which are related specifically to the real estate broker career field.

REAL ESTATE BROKER TRAINING
Before becoming a broker, the BLS states that most workers obtain experience by working under experienced brokers as real estate agents. As agents, aspiring brokers gain a feel for the real estate market and learn how to find properties best suited for clients. Most brokerage firms train agents to complete real estate paperwork, including loan applications and property title documents. After gaining enough experience as an agent and building up a reputation, agents can open up their own businesses and become real estate brokers.

REAL ESTATE BROKER LICENSING REQUIREMENT
All states required real estate brokers to be licensed. Eligibility requirements usually include completing state-approved educational programs, such as earning a bachelor's degree or certificate related to real estate. Many states also require that brokers have at least 1-3 years of recent experience selling real estate. After successfully passing the required licensing exams, most states mandate individuals to renew their licenses by participating in continuing education programs.

REAL ESTATE BROKER SALARY
The average real estate broker salary in New York City, NY for 2020 range is: $$86,600 - $211,500 / year

Hugh’s Answer

there is really no such thing as an easy high paying job.

however, if you find something you love to do then it will feel easier to you and you could say you have an 'easy high paying job'.

there are professions that are relatively highly compensated [financial services, sales] compared to others [teaching, public service] but they often have more risk of disruption during economic downturns.

Maria:
It is a truism in Life that easy jobs don't tend to pay well while well-paying jobs tend to be hard. But hard, challenging jobs done well also can lead to great satisfaction, a very important thing in Life. Thus should consider re-framing your question. Seek out a job (and associated education) that you would find satisfying. In the long-run this is what will carry you through.

I have had a long and very fulfilling career as a Civil Engineer. My Field is Water Resources and I have been involved in a number of large and small projects that have left the world a better place. Seek out a career where you can apply your talents and interests to forging a better world.

Raffaele Davide’s Answer

Hi, Maria!

I don't think there's necessary an "easy" job that pays you well, BUT:
I do believe that it's easier if you loved what you do for your job so I believe that you need to find what you love, check what jobs are related to what you love to do, and do it! Your job might be easy, but if not, it will be less heavy (if that makes sense).

What I told you earlier was a "pro", but the "cons" of finding a job related to what you love, might overwhelm you and you'll end up not liking the subject as you did before.. Choose wisely and try different things.

Good luck!

Yossi’s Answer

I would start with asking yourself what is it that you love doing...and usually finding it will make you happier and make your choice easier to accomplish and more satisfying therefore easier for you.
Generally speaking I would highly recommend any type of engineering studies. The entry positions for engineering jobs are well defined and easier to find and in many cases the starting salaries are well above average. it does require an initial investments in a BS degree or at least an AA degree from Local community college but I think it is well worth it for the long term.

John’s Answer

Easy is relative. The military is easy to me. As the CEO of Amazon, I am sure Jeff Bezos' job is easy. It depends on the skills you have and how you have honed them to best work for you.

I have quite a few friends in the computer industry that work from home performing website design and make a good penny customizing sites for businesses.

I suggest you sit down ad really consider what skills you have and what you want to do.

Before giving any advice, I'd like to ask why do you want an easy job? :)
Hypothetically speaking, apart from other things to consider, if something would be easy and well-paid, most probably it would also be hard to get, as I guess this kind of job offerings would be pretty much in demand ;)
