Chris’s Answer

Both the military and FBI training is intense. Whenever you do either, it is important to have a stick to it attitude and keep an open mind.

Basic training in the military's whole mission is to break you down out of civilian mode and build you up in the military family. The biggest point of this is to ensure you have few questions about orders and it will ultimately help you in life of death missions.

FBI training is extremely mentally challenging but still requires a physical need as well.

Ultimately, I found it to be in excellent physical and mental shape before taking on either.

Todd’s Answer

This depends very much on where you are in your stage of life. Since most people enter into basic training at a young age as I did, it is likely much more challenging. It is your first time away from home and you are hit with many challenges both physically and mentally. Basic training is meant to break you down and build you back up. The discipline learning process involves having every minute of your day filled and often under stress. FBI training is still challenging in both ways and in some ways more in the academic area. The advantage you may have when attending FBI training is that you have more life experiences and have already been through something more difficult and stressful. Although busy and often under new stresses, the purpose of the FBI Academy is not to tear you down and teach you discipline. It is much like the military in that you are there to learn the competencies you need for your new career. The instructors recognize you bring many skills and past work experience with you as opposed to the military basic training where you are starting very new.

Stephen’s Answer

the FBI entrance is very taxing.

The phase 1 written test is difficult.

The PHYSICAL test is something else entirely. Be VERY prepared, the expected times for the time 1.5 mile run is sub 10 minutes, very hard for most. 300 meters in 45 seconds. 50 continuous full range push ups, 10 continuous pull ups.

This is provided you pass the extensive back ground checks.
