Hello Marie!
I can say that going into the military is not necessarily a "good" or "bad" decision. It really depends on you. My husband was in the Air Force for 6 years, My dad for about 25 years and my uncle for even longer. It's a very beneficial option when you are truly undecided. My husband wasn't sure and he ended up really enjoying being in. My dad and uncle both made a career out of it. You have great benefits and one of the benefits is getting paid to go to school. If you decide you want to take classes while being in the military, it can really lead you in the right direction. There is always the possibility for deployment as mentioned before, and I know the army has more chance of that.
I would say: do your research on each branch of the military before deciding on even going into the military. Really take a look at what they each have to offer and where you may want to build your career. Also, I HIGHLY recommend starting with enlisting for 4 years (if that's the minimum, which it is for Air Force) You can always re enlist, but if you jump at a long enlistment, you run the risk of being stuck if you decide later on down the road, that you just don't want to do it anymore.

Hi Marie, I have many friends and a brother in law that are in the Military. I'm sure your friend is making the right decision and I believe with any situation, weighing the pros and cons are helpful. As Emesha mentioned, it provides great benefits during and after enlisting. If your friend gets a job after his enlistment at say Dell Technologies, and he gets deployed again, the company will let them take a leave of absence and they will not lose their job. They will be able to come back to the company after deployment. They may not have the exact some position available but they can not fire you. So in the long run, your friend will gain great knowledge and skills and the possibilities are endless. Best of luck to you and your friend.

Hi Marie, that is a really good question. My husband was in the army for 27 years and loved the benefits, the traveling and the ability to learn new jobs. My son also joined the army after graduating high school and the military is paying for his college education. So there definitely so good benefits of going into the Army- career opportunity, stable income, educational benefits and traveling. check out this article below for more information

Like any profession and industry, joining the army has many pros and cons to it. You have to make the best career decision for you. Generally speaking, the army has a plethora of benefits and opportunities to develop new skill-sets. My closet friend attended the United States Military Academy, West Point. He graduated in 2018, and he is now stationed in Fort Hood, Texas. He loves it because of the skill-sets, financial benefits (healthcare, home ownership, etc.), and the opportunity to serve the country.
With joining the military there are different branches and units you can take. The five different military branches offer different experiences and opportunities. You could potentially attend a military college, do ROTC at a traditional college, or simply enlist. You will have to work hard and be discipline while in the military.
It provides stability and structure, but please do your research and even connect with a recruiter in your area.

I think being in any branch of military service is a very selfless and noble thing to do. I think it can be scary but also have a lot of benefits. You can travel, most expenses paid, healthcare coverage, college tuition paid, etc. If that is what you want to do then go for it! It takes a lot of courage to even consider that as an option.

Hello Marie,
Being in the military is what you make out of it. I am currently an active-duty soldier in the United States Army with 6 years of experience. I love being in the Army, and joining the military was the best choice I could have made for my career. The Army has opened doors for me that I never thought was possible. It has made me a better person and leader. Although my military experience has been great, not everyone has the same attitude as I do. Some people do not like the military, so they serve their time and get out after their contract. Just like any job out there, the military is what you make out of it. I hope this helps. Best of luck. - Paula

Military service can be very rewarding. I was able to travel the world, gain valuable work experience and also graduate college with a Bachelor's degree with zero student loan debt. Everything has pros/cons, but I've found my military experience to be one of the best life decisions I've ever made.
