Hi Anand,
Thanks for reaching out with your question about what we look for on LinkedIn.
I've been an Inside Sales recruiter for 3 years now and LinkedIn is definitely one of the tools we use when looking for great candidates.
For sales, what we look for depends on the level of the role we are trying to fill.
For example if I'm looking specifically for an entry-level role, most of the time I seek out recent undergrads. Most times they will have little to no sales experience so we look for other accomplishments like, internships, sports, fraternity/sorority, volunteer work, etc..........basically other involvement that points towards drive and initiative.
If I were looking for a role that is more senior, I would want to see not only the detailed description of the previous experience, but also past indicators of success like attainment numbers and career progression. Keep in mind that you are selling your best self on LinkedIn, so list pertinent details that are tailored to the role you are looking to obtain and how you can best contribute to the success of an organization.
I hope this advice helps and wish you the best of luck!

When considering LinkedIn profiles, I find that the completeness of an individual's profile is a crucial factor that often goes unnoticed. In addition to the points you mentioned, one aspect that I always take into account is how well-rounded and comprehensive the profile is. A profile with missing sections, such as incomplete employment history, skills, or a sparse overview, can be a significant drawback.
For instance, in my field as a researcher, I pay particular attention to details like whether someone works onsite, remotely, or follows a hybrid model. This information is crucial for projects, and if a profile lacks such details, it might lead me to skip over it in my search. It highlights the importance of users taking the time to provide comprehensive information that enables others to better assess their suitability for specific positions.
Another aspect worth considering is a user's activity on the platform. A lack of activity in the past 90 days might give the impression that the information on the profile is outdated, or worse, that recruiters may not receive a response. Conversely, a consistent and engaging presence reflects positively on the user. Sharing accomplishments, not only on a personal level but also those of the team and employer, showcases a proactive approach to personal branding. Being a brand ambassador for your employer and acknowledging the collective achievements fosters a positive image.
In summary, a well-rounded and active LinkedIn profile is essential for making a positive impression on potential connections, employers, and recruiters. It's not just about listing experiences but actively participating in the platform's community to enhance your professional image.
Give the platform time.
