Hi Alyssa,

Anthropology is, indeed, a very nice choice of career.
You can work at Schools, Universities, Museums, do research etc. You can also move up to grad school and get a PhD in Anthropology. There would open up a new plethora of choices.
Remember, we can learn a lot from ourselves studding old cultures, evolution and even studding contemporaneous cultures distinct from our own.
There is indeed a market for this set of skills you have. I have anthropologists friends that Museums and even at biotech companies.
Hope this advice was helpful.

Cheers

Marija’s Answer

Hi Alyssa,

Anthropology was one of my favorite subjects. I believe a degree in anthropology can open a wide range of choices for you - for both graduate degrees and specialization and /or career choices.

For instance, a connection of mine on LinkedIN secured a PhD in sociology with likely heavy background in anthropology and psychology. She has to built a deep expertise in creating brands based on her deep understanding of human behavior and social studies. She has recently published a book, "The Business of Aspiration" and she writes about the aspiration economy, taste communities, social design, social commerce etc.

I think the sky is the limit for someone interested in such a profound subject!

Wishing you the best of luck. Marija

I love your question because I actually graduated with a degree in Anthropology over 40 years ago! My plan was to teach this subject at the high school and later college level but there were no jobs at the time. I ended up in business with a career in Human Resources, though it was called Personnel at the time. It was the best thing that could have happened because Anthropology is the study of man and I was able to study them in a corporate environment, which has its own culture and set of norms and values. Today, many organizations hire people with Anthropology backgrounds because of this understanding.
