Dear Jeff, that is up to you, but I recommend you to push this issue for later. You have other duties a lot to be done and you have to study hard. It would be difficult to manage your time.

If you want. It will be more difficult since you’ll be balancing studying and fatherhood but it is doable.

Richard’s Answer
It would be quite difficult. You would need a very supportive spouse or other dedicated support system. I had a son my last year of medical school and my wife was able to stay home and take care of our children during the hectic years of residency and fellowship. Paying for childcare on a resident's salary would be quite difficult

I am not going to answer this question for you, because you have to answer it for yourself. Do not give anyone or any kind of a system this kind of sway over your personal life. I do not think that right now is the correct time to put this question to yourself. Do not close your eyes and forget the competitive world out there. TO ME, IT SEEMS TO KEEP GETTING wilder and stranger. What about you?

Blake’s Answer
Hey Jeff,
I think I was very similar to you before I went to college. I was already trying to plan 12 years in advance. I can tell you that I learned it's okay to not have an exact plan that far in advance. You want to have a "general" plan of what you want to do, but that's pretty in depth. You never know where life will take you. However, to answer your question, you are technically allowed to have a child.
Thanks,
Blake
