Hi Renee,
I studied biochemistry and molecular biology as my undergraduate major. I currently work in the pharmaceutical industry at a large Pharma company. However, I work in operations overseeing clinical trials. If you are interested in being in the research laboratory, you will likely need to pursue higher education such as a PhD, or MD. There are many jobs in the Pharma industry, so it really depends on which field you want to go into.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
Herman
