Hello Katerina,
I am a third year student, and I have had several research internship experiences. Typically, summer internships can last between 8-10 weeks, but many are currently being disrupted due to COVID-19. I had an internship at Mayo clinic that was cancelled due to the disease, and many of my friends have had their internships shortened to remote internships that are 4 weeks or less. Do not let this deter you from applying, though! Considering the current healthcare crisis, workers in public health and policy and needed now more than ever! I hope this helps, and good luck searching!

Hi Katerina - Great question ! As everyone said above, an internship program's timeline is variable dependent on the company or organization you work for. Most seem to be around 8-10 weeks if it is during the summer, but you can also have internships throughout the school year.
As Nethra said, there are also many options outside of an internship. I've found much success in volunteering with various organizations and many of my peers have taken research positions within the healthcare industry during the school year.
I hope this helps! And know that you have many options to gain experience and make lasting relationships!

Katerina - The length of an internship will largely vary depending upon the company you are working with. Some are as short as 4 weeks and others can be up to 1 year.
Thank you so much!

Hi Katerina! I would also like to add to Shawnee and Jarron's respones that you can even consdier co-op and/or sandwich program where you work in an internship program anywhere between a few months to up to a year or more.
Other alternatives to internships are: volunteering for an organization/ non-profit's HQ, freelancing, and even potentially shadowing someone you know who is working in that role.
Hope this helps!

It varies case by case. However I think you want to have at least 4 weeks if it is your first internship. It will help you get used to the working environment and get a feeling of what it is like in a real workplace. Hope this helps.
