Do pediatricians receive any specialized training or schooling in med school?

I was wondering if they receive any schooling that is different than others like bedside manner for dealing with kids, as an example #doctor #medicine #healthcare #pediatrics

Gina’s Answer

All medical students receive similar training until they reach their 4th year when they can choose electives in their area of interest. Before graduation from medical school, they will apply to a residency program in pediatrics. During general pediatric residency, which is 3 years, they will receive all of the training to become a pediatrician. After that, if they want to specialize in a certain field within pediatrics, such as pediatric cardiology or pediatric neurology, they will then apply for a 3 year fellowship program to learn that specialty.

Richard’s Answer

Medical school is the same for all MDs.

After medical school each doctor chooses a residency. The 3 years of pediatric residency would be the time for learning the special skills required for pediatrics.
