Veterinarian salary range from $72k - $120k so it is the highest paying job but you need to take into consideration the 4 years of vet school you need to go to for a degree. Schools. range from $150k - $400k depending where you go plus you need to account for the years in school as not receiving salary.
Bottom line - follow your passion. there is plenty of time to adjust if thing don't work out initially.

It depends on what kind of technologist you want to be. A few things that might help....1. Vet school is one of the hardest majors to get into. 2. I worked for over 20 years as a "technologist" in the software industry- working on the code for machines. Software is one of the highest paid industries across the board because instead of offsetting the manufacturing costs (to produce a car, or make even a computer), once the code is created it can be distributed over and over again without additional cost. As a result when they invest in the "manufacturing process" that means they are investing in the people. So all employees at software companies tend to make more regardless of their department. So you could be in HR, or Marketing, or Engineering, or anything at a software company and it will usually pay more than the same job in a different industry.
In the end, find something you love to do that will meet your minimum standard of living. There will always be things you like/don't like about every job or career but it should start with a baseline of something that interests you. You will spend the majority of your waking hours for many years learning more and becoming an expert in that area....so start with something you enjoy to ensure you don't end up with years of experience in something you find boring or painful.

Hi Brooklynn,
Great question!
A resource I use whenever I'm searching for industry/company specific salaries is Glassdoor.
https://www.glassdoor.com/index.htm
Glassdoor gives salary detail by position and location. Another plus is that glassdoor also includes company reviews from employees who worked at the firm, so you're able to learn about their experience.
Hope this helps. Goodluck with your journey!

It could very well depend on what type of work you are doing in each industry! Another thing to consider (other than salary) is what type of schooling you'd be most interested in focusing on.
Do you like trade school's and working with machines more? Or does medical school and helping animals sounds more interesting?
I also recommend talking to mechanics and vet's that you know to hear their thoughts :)

Here is what I've found from just doing some quick research online. As a mechanic, the average salary in the US will be $20,000-$55,000. I'm not sure what type of technologist you are looking to become, because there are a few different routes you could follow. Being a medical technologist would put you around $60,000-$85,000, but specializing as an echo technologist could get you $65,000-$120,000. As a vet, the average salary in the US is $60,000-$120,000,
