David’s Answer

All that is required to teach art, drawing and painting, in most states is a teaching degree or equivalent. In private, non/for profit schools a teaching degree may be optional if you are an artist and have studied art.

Lisa’s Answer

If you want to pursue a teaching career you will need to do a few things to make that happen.

  1. Develop your skills in Art - Take art classes in middle and high school.

  2. Earn a Bachelor's Degree in Art Education or Fine Arts

  3. Complete a Teacher's Education Program - Check your state for requirements.

  4. Obtain your Teaching Credential/Certification

Tha path I took was obtaining a Bachelor's of Fine Art in Crafts and I am now working on my Teaching Credential.
