David’s Answer

Attend professional conferences for your field, make personal connections with people. The personal connections are really valuable for developing joint projects, getting new ideas off the ground, and finding jobs. Also, look online regularly for training opportunities to improve yourself. Anything like free courses, certifications, organizations to join, and newsletters to read. You can build your knowledge and skills so so much for free. Good luck!

YU’s Answer

I agree that being successful overnight rarely happened. Honestly, reducing the risk or trying not to taking chances is a key to success. Have you ever heard "risk management" in business and finance? When you reduce unpredictable risk to a minima level, you increase the chance for achieve the goal.

However, on the contrast, we need to take the chance. You need to evaluate the situation case by case. Learning risk assessment need lot of practice. If you think the reward is truely worth the risk, then take you chance.

You are absolutely right in saying you do not become successful overnight (at least in my opinion). Of course, one person's definition of success may differ from the next, but what is important is that YOU feel like you are on a path toward self-fulfillment. I decided to apply for graduate school in my last semester of undergrad, with about a month and a half before I completed my degree in business. The program I applied for is related to education/human services, which is different from business. I followed my gut and it was the BEST decision I ever made! Taking risks can sometimes be really beneficial. Take some time to self-reflect, and think of career paths, volunteer opportunities, or even hobbies that could foster growth within you and spark an interest within you.

Natalie’s Answer

Hello Allexis,
I was a good but not a great student graduating with a 3.2 gpa which a B. I am convinced the factor that got me into some of the best graduate schools in the country for my subject area was the fact that I did a lot of volunteer work and had multiple internships related to your major. It is never too early to start volunteering even if it is not something related to a possible career. You also want to pick colleges with strong coop/internships so that you will graduate with real life experience in the area. Go for opportunities that scare you because you will grow.

Good Luck!
Natalie
