Community college is a fine choice for getting an Associate's degree first (ASN), then passing the nursing exam to become a Registered Nurse (RN). A lot of colleges then offer RN - BSN programs (Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing) in which you spend another 1-1/2 to 2 years to get your Bachelor's degree. Many of these can be done online or in-person, and sometimes you can find work as an RN and your employee may pay for you to get your BSN. So basically, the question you want to ask yourself is how important it is to go to a university right away, since both paths will get you to the BSN in about the same amount of time.

A community college is a great place to start! Make sure you look into what the requirements are for the nursing programs you are looking into. WHILE IN community college try to get allllll the prerequisites out of the way and maintain your GPA. Nursing programs are often super competitive. So if grades are great and the prerequisites are good to go, nothing should hold you back, BELIEVE IN YOURSELF! It's the most powerful tool is your own intrinsic motivation.
