Is anyone able to receive the TEACH grant?
I am a current senior and I was told to look into the TEACH grant because I want to study secondary education but I'm not sure if anyone that applies and qualifies for it is awarded with it. #teaching #teacher #scholarship #higher-education

The TEACH grant is only available to teachers who commit to and work in a Low-income, underserved, high-needs area for five years. They can receive the TEACH grant for all five years that they work in the low-income community and they can use it to pay off their student loans or pay for tuition. It is a total of $5,000/yr.

I checked this out and found the following which should answer the question you asked:
Who can get a TEACH Grant?
To be eligible for a TEACH Grant, you must do the following:
Meet the basic eligibility criteria for the federal student aid programs.
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form.
Be enrolled as an undergraduate, postbaccalaureate, or graduate student at a school that participates in the TEACH Grant Program.
Be enrolled in a TEACH-Grant-eligible program.
Meet certain academic achievement requirements (generally, scoring above the 75th percentile on one or more portions of a college admissions test or maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25). For specific information about the academic requirements, talk to the financial aid office at your college or career school.
Receive TEACH Grant counseling that explains the terms and conditions of the TEACH Grant service obligation. You must complete counseling each year that you receive a TEACH Grant.
Sign a TEACH Grant Agreement to Serve.
Here is the website where I found this information and it has a lot of information which I know will be very helpful to you. https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/types/grants-scholarships/teach#eligibility
What they are looking for in people who apply to this grant is individuals who are passionate about teaching, are willing to commit to 4 years teach lower income students and want to help make a difference in those children's lives. Secondary education is very rewarding and can be challenging if you are not aware. But, if you feel very strong that you would like to become a teacher, definitely apply for the grant. Prior to applying, take a good look at the website I gave you up above, it has a lot of information.
Best of luck to you Alicia, show them what a wonderful teacher you will be for them.
Take care,
Christine
