Hey Kyler! It really depends on how difficult the classes you are taking and what major you are in. It also depends on your extracurriculars, if you're doing a job, and a ton of other factors.
For me, I was studying engineering in college and would probably spend at least 2 hours out of class for every hour in class. For test weeks, its nonstop studying until the test with sometimes even all nighters (studying without sleep). I think it vastly depends on the person as well :)
Good luck!

It really depends on a factor of how many other time commitments that you’ve got between work and other extracurriculars, as well as how hard each class that you are taking. Typically it’s a safe bet to spend between 2-3 hrs studying out of class, for every hour in class. This can get flipped during finals week though, where studying and cramming for tests is even more important.

HI Kyler,
When I was in college, I was told to expect to study 2 or 3 times the time you spent in class each week. So if I took a one hour class, I should expect to study 2 to 3 hours for that class. And I think that was accurate. That is what makes going to school full time and working so challenging, since studying is like having a job in itself.

Hi Kyler:
You may want to start out by dedicating at least 2 hours out of class for every hour in class. Especially due to factors such as complexity of material, extra activities, clubs, job, etc. But, take as much time as you need to study to ensure you understand the material and are learning and can apply it. Best of luck to you!
