Does physical therapy school pay off?
My name is Emma and I am very interested in the medical field. I'm not sure what yet, but I've had lots of experience with physical therapy due to my ACL tear. I would love to hear an opinion on schooling length and difficulty at getting into a program. Thanks!! #medicine #healthcare #physical-therapist #physical-therapy

Hi Emma!
Since you have had some issues with your ACL, I am sure that you have some idea of what physical therapist do! I would like you to start by asking questions to your therapist about his/her opinion on how long they have studied PT. If not, you can visit them in their clinic and ask their opinion about their PT experience. You can ask them on how to get into the PT program that best suits your needs. They may have different answers depending on where and when they have graduated from PT school. Also, I would like you to visit the website www.apta.org and look for prospective students and click the link "For Prospective Students". The APTA is the organization that promotes the practice of physical therapy in the country . The APTA will provide you with informations about the physical therapy profession and how to get into the PT program. Also, I would like you to ask someone in your community or a family friend who is currently studying physical therapy on his/her opinion about the experience getting into the PT program so that you will know what to expect and what to do to achieve your goal of becoming a physical therapist.
If you are currently in middle school, you can ask your school counselor if you can go to your local hospital or PT clinic to be an observer or volunteer in the PT department so that you will have an idea if physical therapy is the right career for you.
I hope this helps and good luck on your future career and I am sure you can achieve your goal of becoming a future PT.
