A recent study stated that patients who have female doctors have a better outcome.
Today there are more female doctors in primary care than other specialities and they have lower growth potential as the employers tend to provide less compensation to females.
As long as you are aware of your potential there is no reason why you should earn less than your male counterparts

I also had an issue with a female dental assistant who refused to give me challenging cases cause I was female (note that I was a resident) but would always offer the male students who couldn't. Most people do not realize it's all about technique.
It can be quite exhausting sometimes but I still feel very much fulfilled.

Depending on what area you're going into you may find some professions in health care are female dominated. There are certain personality types that are attracted to areas of healthcare. An orthopedic surgeon is likely to have a completely different personality and working style than a neonatal nurse. There are a lot of professional organizations and online communities available for support and advice. Seek out female leaders in your chosen profession and try to find mentors. They will give you the best advice regarding what to expect in your interactions with colleagues, patients, and others and how best to handle any challenges you may encounter.
