Very deep idea that people ask and re-ask very routinely.

professor daniel recommends the following next steps:

This a very philosophical question with many answers.
"Right" for you is subjective and open-ended.

Yvonne’s Answer

Hi Kenesha –

Finding the right career is a big decision and it’s not one that’s exactly easy to do. If you’re still in high school, I would suggest making an appointment with your guidance counselor, or sitting down to talk with a teacher you respect. It may be helpful to talk to someone about what your interests and strengths are, and then see what opportunities out there match them. Many counselors can set you up to shadow someone in your desired field or point you in the right direction to learn more. Figuring out your career is a process that can take some trial and error, but with every step, you get closer to determining a great fit.

Best of luck!

Hi Kenesha! I suggest taking a career assessment first. Go to www.mynextmove.org and do the career assessment. It will give you a list of suggested careers based on your results.

Christy’s Answer

It's hard to know for sure, especially early in your career. I've been working for over twenty years and have done many different jobs over the years: sales/marketing, teaching, business operations, etc. I recently started training helping the unemployed find jobs. I absolutely love it. I love it so much because I'm a good communicator, majored in communications, and I'm helping people. When you do something that you're naturally good at and something you love things fall into place pretty quick.
