Is there a way to finish college faster without taking on a big work load?
I am ready to be out in the workforce I just want to know if there was anyway that I could get there faster to start supporting myself and my family now. #college #career-counseling

Hey Nathaly,
Good question, and not that uncommon, but let me answer it indirectly. You say you’re ready to start working except you must finish your college degree. Is a college degree required for you to work in your area of interest? If yes, then continue on and look for shortcuts.
If a degree is not required for you to start work in your area of interest, perhaps you could start work part time now and cut back on school and finish your degree a couple of years later (that’s what I did). If no degree is required at all to do what you want to do, you could stop school for a while until you decide if you really want a college degree.
My point is that our country’s culture and school system are centered around the idea that everyone needs a college degree to get ahead, and maybe you got caught up with that. Many people earn a living wage by starting a business or working in a skilled trade. But no matter what you decide, make sure it’s what you really want to do. Good luck.

Hey Nathaly!
Great question! There's many options to satisfy some prerequisite courses that don't apply to your major to graduate faster such as your history, writing, science, and some math classes. You can test out of these or take a summer course for a lot cheaper. Some of the tests include AP testing or CLEP. Schools typically have their own administered exams as well. Make sure to check what score is required to get credit.
Good luck!
