What major should I pursue in order to be an entertainer?

I am a junior and enjoy public speaking and entertaining people. I thought I wanted to be a politician, but realized I only enjoyed the public speaking part of it, not the big decision making. #college #professional #student

You don't need a degree to be an entertainer. If you want to be an entertainer you should first figure out what you want to do. Music, acting, writing, comedy, etc. You could go to theater school, or a music school and learn the fundamentals of the art you want to perform. Or alternatively, you could get a traditional degree and then pursue a career as an entertainer.

Agree that it all depends on what type of entertainment you enjoy. If you do enjoy school, and are eager to learn in a more traditional setting, you might give yourself more options down the road if you can and want to obtain a degree and either study something related to the entertainment industry (performing arts, music engineering, etc) or participate in a club or activity in college (school theater, pep squad, etc).

Otherwise, interning with entertainment companies, getting entry level jobs in the field, or volunteering at open mic nights are all options to level set your expectations on what you might experience in those fields of work.
