Why does the current generation coming out of the 2016-17 school year only care about money when finding a job? I have noticed a large amount of students not caring about what the jobs offer to society and are only concerned with the amount of money

I am an 18 year old entrepreneur and I am worried about my current generation of young adults moving into work force strictly for finnancial gain.

Its an Excellent question.
I myself am a bit of an idealist, and understand your feelings.
I wish the world was an Ideal place and you didn't have to worry about money, to pay for your college, Car, Home Mortgage, Vacations, your Kids education.. so forth.
You need money to pay for all of the above.
Hence, money is the necessary EVIL.

Having said that. It doesn't mean you can't find a JOB, which you enjoy and it pays well enough to ease your worries. That would be a perfect situation.
So my suggestion is to try and base your carrier in a field, you are interested in or make a carrier out of your hobby, as long as it pays well enough to take care of the expenses.

I'm not sure anyone is truly qualified to answer your thought provoking question, but I like it.

I don't know your background; but from my life, I've found money to be a key resource. Whether it be for powering your home, saving for kids to go to college, enjoying restaurants, funding your hobby, or even generating a small startup.

Looking to be an entrepreneur, you will find many risks: undercapitalization, attempting to grow your first customer base, develop your processes, and essentially surviving until you become solvent, is critical. From being able to start a nonprofit, taking kids to a theme park, travelling the world, saving for retirement; you will find 99.999% of the world responds/requires money.

In a lot of ways, money is part of the glue and fabric that helps keep society together and moving forward. Keeping the big machine running; of which, you will be a part of as an entrepreneur.

Having said that, I wouldn't say money, as a driver for career choice, makes it a negative. Money is not a source of evil, it's a enabler for one or the other. I wouldn't judge a group of people based on their pursuits to enable themselves. It's their actions with those tools by which they should be judged.
