Speak to the advisor of your program and find out if once you have completed your training they will connect you with the local union. This is a great path to take, as there is a clear career progression.
Hi Michelle, this is good advice but it doesn't directly answer the question. Any info you can provide around entry level welding jobs would be very helpful

Depending on your goals with welding, there are artist residency programs and grants you can look into focused on welding. Welding is also utilized in set construction and prop building. You can look into prop houses like P.R.G. in NY and others that are looking for extra hands. Wether you join a prop house or a non-creative field for welding, you should look into joining a union which can provide even more resources to you. To join the local chapter of these unions wether it be I.A.T.S.E. or another, you usually need to get certified through the Ironworkers and American Welding Society.

I am familiar with welding jobs in mechanical trades such as pipefitters, and machine shops. These tradesman typically work on job sites installing piping systems or in machine shops in fabrication of custom assemblies. There are also jobs in process equipment companies fabricating process equipment such as tanks.
