Douglas’s Answer

Hi,

I have always been a mechanically oriented person so when it came time to go to college, I chose Mechanical Engineering although I did not know any MEs or exactly what they did. But it seemed like it would match the things I liked to do better than the other types of engineering. I have never regretted my decision for one minute. As I got into the field and became more and more experienced, I like Mechanical Engineering more and more. In my opinion, ME is probably the broadest field in engineering in that you can work on a vast variety of equipment in a number of industries; from ships to aero planes to power plants to mining equipment to automobiles, etc. If it moves, a mechanical engineer has been involve with it at some point. In short, I am proud to be a mechanical engineer and really like the field.

Hope this helps,
Doug

Kyle’s Answer

I really enjoy it. I feel like it is challenging and very rewarding. There are always problems to be solved, and it feels fantastic to see the solutions that come out of your mind actually created/implemented. There is a very wide range of jobs a mechanical engineer can do, so there is a good chance that you can find something that appeals to you.
