Do you need an iPad + stylus to be successful in the med school in the US?
I frequently watch "day in the life of a med student" videos on YouTube and every med student seems to have one. #medicine #doctor

Toluwanimi ,
I'm a current PA student in the clinical year of training learning to practice medicine, so can speak from my experience. The one device I have relied on the most during my training so far is my laptop, which I bought shortly before starting PA school. I do have a tab without a stylus, but I would say my laptop has been the one crucial piece of device for me in and outside of classroom. I hope this helps.
Good luck!

Hello,
in my opinion, not only med student need to use iPad and Apple Pencil.
Nowadays, people prefer to use iPad to study, making notes and report.
The price of iPad is friendly, just $429 for an iPad 7th generation.
At last but not less, remember to get apple care to protect your iPad :)

I am not saying it is a must item for a med school student. You may use computer to substitute the iPad. The reason why those students use iPad is that in terms of convenience, iPad is indeed more flexible than the computer. The students can download the notes instantly and use the apple pencil to take notes on it. Also you may turn you notes writing into text and then submit the homework immediately. You may also add a keyboard to use it if you need a lot fo typing.
Thank you, Christina.

For me, an iPad and stylus have helped me streamline the note-taking process. A tablet is more portable and can be personalized to the user's preferences. I switched from handwritten notes to a tablet and stylus because it helps me stay organized. I know where all my notes are by folder, which I find to be more effective and efficient than rummaging through papers. Also, I find digital notes more accessible and easier to share among peers.

Great question!
As technology advances, so do the pieces of equipment and the medical field is no different. Years ago all patient charting was done manually or through a computer and at the end of the day, you would have to sit down and go through all of the files of patients you had saw that day in order to chart everything so that the transcriber could have what they need to complete transcriptions. These days have since become a thing of the past thanks to technology.
As a medical professional today, it is a lot easier to chart with an ipad in that it is easier to note charts and then send to the cloud where nurses can also send triage info so that the doctor can see and it is a lot easier to share charts between different departments in case of a multi-care patient. That being said, it is a lot easier to train yourself to get used to using them while you are in med school than to try to break old habits once you are out in the profession. That being said, no it is not a requirement for med school but it would make it a lot easier in learning new ways of patient care and how to chart and take notes in class to use later.
Hope this helps and good luck
