You would study computer engineering at a program like this one at BU: http://www.bu.edu/ece/

This should give you the skills required to build nearly anything you want: hardware or software. With these skills, the variety of jobs you can get is enormous. As large, in fact, as the number of applications for software and hardware! That's nearly everywhere. Everything that is built with computer components needs to be designed by someone. I will list some examples to show the range:

  • Software developer at a big business (large fortune 500 companies need developers to build tools for their employees)

  • Software developer at a startup company

  • Quality assurance tester testing software or hardware

  • Product engineer at a sporting goods company

  • Engineer at an aeronautics company building systems for airplanes or spacecraft

  • Game developer

  • Smartphone chip designer

If by "computer engineer" you mean software engineer, then the spectrum of all possible jobs is immense.
A lot will depend, though, on your first job because you will most likely use that as a necessary experience for your second job and so on.
