Rick’s Answer

In addition to working on campaigns, both supporting those running for office and ballot initiatives, there are several types of jobs that might be of interest including:

-Policy development and/or analysis for non-profit organizations, government or for-profit corporations.
-Lobbying for either non-profit organizations or for-profit corporations.
-Working for a local chamber of commerce or trade association.
-Working for the media in covering politics.

Just getting started, but you get the picture! Good luck!

Will’s Answer

Following up on what Rick said, during my collegiate tenure, I was faced with a fork in the road decision. One path of Poli-Sci led to law enforcement and criminology, and the other would get me started on a solid foundation for a successful career in Law via the courts. I chose to go pre-Law cognate as my eventual goal was to get to the Supreme Court. However, during undergrad, Political Science, you will learn, is one of the most diverse and available platforms to network and build your brand. Learning government functionality and how the law works is very insightful and enlightening.. Take a look into Constitutional Law should you get a chance. Best of Luck

Mikio’s Answer

I was a political science major with a minor in Spanish. That was back in 1986--1990. Things have changed. I did it for law school but ended up going for a MPA at GSA and working for the federal service. Here is what I would advise today. Go for majors that are in demand, will offer you opportunities to work from home or travel (which ever you desire) and may offer you the opportunity to work for yourself. IT (information technology /security IT) is a huge area now, Engineering anything, pharmacy, mathematics/financial management is in high demand in most sectors, Epidemiology is also another field where finding people is difficult. Go for what you enjoy and what will offer a high salary. Check out this article: http://money.cnn.com/2015/05/07/pf/college/highest-paying-college-majors/index.html
