Alyssa’s Answer

Jessica what motivated me to become a nurse was the fact that I would be caring for others and that I can make even a small difference in the lives that I came in contact with. Even being a support system for those in need who don't have the support system like I do. I took health occupation's class all 4 years of high school. I became a nursing assistant and did that for many years until I began college to become a nurse. I worked in several nursing homes with elderly patients, and many of those patients did not family that lived close by or a good support system. Spending time talking to each resident in the nursing home brought such joy to not just their lives but mine. And patients that did have family would appreciate that I took the time out of my day to sit down and talk with their mother/father/aunt/uncle/grandma/grandpa. It's a rewarding career for sure. No matter what field you go into you'll get such joy out of what you do. There is so many options in the field of nursing as well.

Rob’s Answer

.You can meet with a nurse and have a discussion with her about her career, what its like to be a nurse, what they like about their job. You can also speak to your doctor about any recommendations they may have to speak to someone. Usually the hospital will have a nursing office that you can speak with someone. Also colleges or nursing schools offer advisors you can speak with

Rob recommends the following next steps:

Ask family or friends for a contact you can reach out too
Search Linked in for a nurse, and reach out
Search you tube, I am sure there are examples of a day in the life of a nurse
