Hey there,
I am not a nurse. I am a psychotherapist and have worked with families gong through some tough times that will require you to practice sympathy, empathy, and a whole host of other needs. Please consider this when choosing the profession. It is one of the most honorable areas to go into. My daughter required the assistance of a neonatologist when she was born. She is a thriving young 7 year old now.
Don't know where you are at in your studies, but consider taking a few clinical psychology courses- not necessarily the ones that discuss psychiatric issues. Those that focus on counseling and such. Best of luck on this amazing endeavor.

Talk to as many nurses as you can about why they choose their areas of specialization. Volunteer or work with nurses and other health care providers. Be ready to study and work hard to meet your goals one at a time. Good luck!

Always search your why when it comes to nursing. The job compensates well how er could never cover the liability of the role. I would try to seek jobs which works in the area of mother baby or neonatal. Start as a tech while going to school
This will allow your future employers fo get to know you.
