You will need to complete nursing school and become a registered nurse. You may want to consider a nursing program that offers a clinical rotation in the newborn nursery/newborn unit and /or offers internship opportunities in these areas. A minimal number of years of clinical experience as an RN may be required to obtain a position as a neonatal nurse. However, some nursing internship programs may offer you an opportunity to start your career as a neonatal nurse.
