Hey, Jessica! I hope you're okay! As a researcher in polymeric materials for biomedical applications, the fact that I have to research and read and write articles, makes me stay updated in my field. This is something excellent besides several other factors that research provides. The fact that I can always be in touch with the innovations and trends in my research line.
However, I suggest that, you start reading newsletters, newsletters of the area you intend to follow, or is already inserted, there are several professional websites that keep reliable newsletters written by professionals with solid experience in the area, this will make a big difference in your knowledge, because it will always be updated and in accordance with the trends required by the demands, which evolve very fast.
Another point that I think is very valid, very interesting, is to be part of some community that makes reference to your area, because constantly people post about professional issues with reliable sources of research, and you can also contribute with information, and this exchange of ideas and experiences is very advantageous.
My recommendation is that you network with people in your area of expertise or who intend to act, people who have solid professional knowledge, and also you need to seek websites in the category that present reliable materials and make a registration to receive these news via email. But what you really need to use are scientific research websites, such as web of knowledge, science direct and google scholar. These websites present different scientific journals of different subjects from medicine to physics, biology, engineering among others are present, this adds a lot to your knowledge, not to mention that to be published there passed through the sieve of different reviewers, at least three, this is an aspect that gives credibility to the information collected. Journals like nature and scientific report I use a lot to keep myself updated.
Well, those would be the actions I do to keep myself updated in my area. I hope I have helped you Jessica, I wish you success, my best regards.

Hi Jessica,

There are a number of ways to stay up to date with the latest medical research and information in your field. You can use websites like PubMed, a repository for journal articles to search for area of your interest. You can go directly to journal websites of say Science, Nature Medicine to scan for topics of interest though they will require membership for full access to articles. There are also Congress sites, articles free on Google search to read. You can follow lead researchers in your area of interest and attend talks. Hope this helps!

Britni’s Answer

Hi,
One way to stay updated is getting medical updates from colleagues. If one person learns about a new breakthrough in treatment or a new strategy for managing patient care, they are quick to share this information with their peers. This may include other doctors in their organization and social circle, as well as the nurses, physician assistants, and pharmacists with whom they interact. Medical literature has been one of the primary methods to stay updated with information regarding medical research. Researchers and medical professionals publish medical information to a broad, international audience of journal publications. You can be confident in the accuracy and quality of the research. Review articles and journal supplements from top thought leaders highlight the most recent and clinically relevant data put into context in a larger field and providing expert opinion on how to incorporate updated information into daily practice. Medical society meetings like (made up example, not sure if it’s real) The American Society of Medicine where these meetings have experts share the most recent breakthroughs in treatments. There are many, many ways to stay updated and you can also do some research of your own. Hope this helps, Good luck!
