Mayble’s Answer

No certification for NICU nurse required. Nurses obtain it to get higher pay or if they feel they want to be a mentor and expert in field they get certified. You just need an RN degree and opening for new nurses if not usually they take nurse who had past experience in NICU.
Thank you comment icon Hi Mayble, for clarification, are you saying that only experience is needed? Not a certificate? Gurpreet Lally, Admin

Daysi’s Answer

Hi Jessica,
Your training in the pediatric rotation (request NICU ) and your training once you finish school in the NICU will help you provide that quality care you are inquiring. Always ask questions when in doubt.

Frequently, after a year in the NICU, the hospital sets you up for the certification course to build on your knowledge. Hospitals which have been recognized as a Center for Nursing Excellence Magnet facility usually set you up for the specialty certification.

To answer your questions, the quality of care you provide begins with your as a nurse and with your years of hands on experience.

Below find the link for the certifying organization for NICU nurses, for your own knowledge.

I hope this brief answer helps.. Best of luck
