Brian’s Answer

There are so many answers dependent upon the source of the stress (e.g., a co-worker, a deadline, or just a problem for which there doesn't seem to be an answer). Personally, I step outside of the situation and look back in from the perspectives of others. Then, I ask "What Matters Most?" Often, I'll find that the source of the stress really isn't that important and that I will be focusing (stressing) about something new tomorrow, in a week, or a month. Once I see that, the answer to resolution is simply taking the shortest path possible to remove or resolve the source of stress. For longer term issues (e.g., a disagreeable Manager), once again, ask yourself "What Matters Most?" If it's your own health and happiness, and you've already tried working through your differences with your Manager, maybe it's time to find another department or company. Just don't get stuck! You'll never have an opportunity to live the moment you're living right now so make the most of your time and energy and apply it towards, you guessed it, What Matters Most!

Brian recommends the following next steps:

Feel free to reach out to me personally with specifics and I will be happy to respond. I may not have the right answer, but I'll be happy to try.

Darin’s Answer

It really depend on the situation. If it's a stressful situation between you and another person best advice is just take it one step at a time. Remain calm and don't overreact. Try and see it from the other persons eyes. If you can't do that, just simply ask them to explain why they feel the way they do. Most won't expect that question to be asked. If you still don't understand afterwards then that's ok too. But like I said in the beginning remain calm

Ginger’s Answer

Sometimes during difficult stressful times you need to remove yourself from the situation and look at it from the other side. If your able to see the other point of view you generally can come up with a solution to solve the issue. If all else fails take a walk away from the situation and do some deep breaths to clear your head.

Thejas’s Answer

Everyone has their own ways of relieving stress.
For me its always music,
I would close my eyes for 5-10 mins listening to soothing music.
If there is a misunderstanding between two people depending on the consequences you can agree to whatever the person is saying just to avoid the conflict.
On the bright side it would reduce a lot of argument and hence the stress.
Once the issue cools down explain the person what was wrong, the person might agree on it.

When it comes to work load you need to have a plan to perform all the tasks
Otherwise you will be in a stressful situation.
When I have gone through such a phase I would take a time off listening to music for a while and then start with the work.
Giving equal breaks and having a balanced routine.

Ruixian’s Answer

There could be multiple ways. When in the stressful work situations, you could try to identify what are the priorities and focus on these priority tasks first of all. Then you could gradually perform all the other tasks. Give yourself sometime for figure out a project plan and do it. Personally, I would go for some exercise like jogging or yoga to relieve the stress.

Gina’s Answer

i used to be pretty short tempered. Best advice I ever received is to step away for a few minutes, recollect thoughts. The time you step away can help you put things into perspective and handle the situation under control. Also, outside of work, I've found stress relief with yoga and exercising. Every day after work it helps me deviate my attention for an hour or so and it's very refreshing to clear my head.

Blake’s Answer

I compartmentalize the situations. I then prioritize which is the most important and devote all of my energy to solving that first. I stay away from self-pity in stressful situations.
