Hi Jessica,
As a Registered Nurse you will always have a sense of purpose and that you "made a difference" in someones life and their families.
Even if you just held their hand during a procedure or provided comforting words in difficult situations under your care. You are their voice when they can't speak for themselves.
At times you will have sleepless nights , whether it is because you were on shift working all night or in your mind you are thinking of that patient or situation will not allow you to sleep. There are days where you are not happy, but for me, the better moments and rewarding situations always are more than the unfavorable ones.
I have made many great relationships over the years which I still treasure and hope to continue to nourish and remissness on the memories we made as young professionals.
Best of luck,
Daysi

Some days are really difficult and some days you feel like you are walking on air! But no matter what a day brought to me, I always knew I had made the right choice. I always felt that nursing was a calling, a vocation and that I would not have been happy or fulfilled in any other career.
After I retired, I volunteered at a free clinic in the town where I now live in Florida (I am a transplanted New Yorker, Brooklyn girl) and it was truly here that I felt fully how much being a nurse "feeds my soul". I have had to stop volunteering due to the COVID-19 pandemic due to age and other risk factors. I miss actively being a nurse very much. As difficult and challenging as this time is in medicine and nursing, I envy my younger collegues being active on the forefront of what promises to be an incredible time in health care for the entire world!
I would encourage you to take the leap into nursing and find out for yourself how great this career can be for YOU.
