Can minor league basketball coaches make a living without a second job or do they not make enough?

And what about lower division colleges? Or JCs? #basketball #coaching #professional-sports #coach

Paul’s Answer

Here is some of the information that I found on your question.
It varies but:

*Minor league NBA coaches usually earn around $15 to $46 dollars an hour.

*Junior College coaches earn between $27,000 to $75,000 dollars per year, and many of them have jobs as educators and academic advisors at those schools.

*NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) coaches on average make around $58,000 dollars per year.

So circumstances will vary depending upon the team, school, and the requirements and qualifications they seek in a coach.

Marie-France’s Answer

I would argue no that coaching basketball is a sustainable career. You need to look at coaching basketball for a minor league more like volunteering your time. The salary ranges from $0 to $1500 a season. I coach because I enjoy the atmosphere, the team spirit and the sport.

M’s Answer

Depends on what they do to promote themselves. Are you planning to run your own summer camps? Are you planning to wear a particular suit or jacket to advertise a company?

Coaches make a good living not only by the money they make but the connections they make with the players that become their family.

Good luck
