i am in outside sales-- my job does require me to travel, however with COVID-19, we are doing a lot of video calls. Helps to see someone face to face-- feel to gain a tighter, more trustworthy connections.

Hi Jessica, I work in a Financial Planning and Analysis team which requires some travels occasionally and I would say about 5% of the time to meet internal customers in various different countries in the region.

Depending on the your career aspiration, some jobs require more travel than others. It also depends on your career cycle as it can be a good experience travelling while learning and building a professional network outside of your home country. Like education, business travels can become challenging as you grow and have a family with kids.

My job doesn't directly require me to travel. However, for conferences and seminars, college recruitment (I go back to my alma mater a few times per semester), etc., I will travel.
My team also encourages international mobility. Just a few months ago, I was afforded the privilege to work from our London office for a few weeks.

Hi Jessica!
I work as an analyst in banking and my job requires me to travel around 10% of the time. Travels are generally for client meetings, factory visits or training. However, due to the current COVID situation, travels are not recommended and will certainly be kept at the minimum for the rest of the year.

Honestly though, finding a job that involves traveling is really over-rated. I did it for many years, and it’s not what you think it is. It’s not like you’ll be seeing these exotic locations and spending time enjoying it. Usually, you’re there 100% for business - alone - and stuck inside an office or conference all day.
Oh, you want to tour the region? You’ll have to take PTO, pay for your extended hotel, and pay for your food because your business isn’t paying for you to relax. It’s really not as exciting as you would think.
Instead, find a job you enjoy that pays well and travel on your own terms. Sure you have to pay for your airfare and accommodations, but at least you get to enjoy yourself.
