The start of a career as a Registered Nurse begins in Nursing School. There are various levels in this career. Many start out in a Associate Degree Program and then progress on to a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. At the current time, you can take the licensing examination after completion of either degree program. The preferred entry level is a Bachelor's Degree and in order to become certified in any specialty you must have a Bachelor's Degree in order to take the specialty certification examination.

If a Registered Nurse chooses to become a Clinical Specialist or Nurse Practioner additional education is required at the Master's Degree Level.

In addition to the previous response. I would ask yourself why you want to become a nurse? Second are you able to develop and display empathy. And can you be a team player and bite your tongue when needed.
