you may not be able to justify in both full time jobs as each job demand 6-7 hours time each day as well as you will not be allowed to legally as well in most countries for 2 full time jobs. But certainly you can have 2 jobs while one you are most passionate about can be your full time job and other can be your time

Dan’s Answer

No reason why you couldn't if you wanted to. You would just have to review if you are doing a good job in both jobs as well as what you would want in life.

Liyan’s Answer

I think it is important to look at the job contract you have signed as some company do not allow or require employee to report of any other job that might have a conflict of interest. Check with the HR for a faster answer since every company policy are different.

However, it is good to keep in mind that work life balance is equally important for yourself. Afterall, Health is wealth!

Jerin’s Answer

Dear Jessica,

Thanks for your question .

It all depends on the labour laws at the time when you will start working those two full time jobs , for e.g. if you are working full time in a private sector and your second full time job is with Federal or State Government , there could be a lot of factors that could prevent you from doing two full time jobs. This includes clauses in one of your full time job contract . Its not just the Government laws , you also need to know in deep what the employers want from you as one of their employee.

Honestly , two full time job is going to be hard to manage, if that was not the case, most of them would be doing it .

I think if you want the right work-life balance, then one full time job and one part time job is the maximum that you should target. At the end of the day , you earn money to live a life that you want to live , and it must include signifcant amount of rest .

Maybe you are blessed with multiple talents , in that case I would suggest that you start with one full time job and another part time job , so that you will become an expert at one of your main job , and then slowly your career in other sector grows over time.

This way you can excel in whatever you are doing.

Hope this helps !

Thanks and Regards,
Jerin

Jerin recommends the following next steps:

Choose two professions to try
Enroll in full time studies for only the main proession to start with , and try learning onine for the second profession with minimum investment
Start working full time , and then enrol in part time courses if that is necessary / find a part time job in the other field you want to work on

Greg’s Answer

Are you able to? Possibly, depending on your local labor laws and employer's job requirements. If the two jobs are with companies in the same industry that would typically be prohibited due to conflicts of interest.

Why are you pursuing two full time jobs?
Doing so is very challenging as you'd be looking at 16 hrs / day which doesn't factor in commuting time; burnout would be high and overall effectiveness in either job would be compromised.

Greg recommends the following next steps:

1) Identify the job that you are more passionate about
2) Assess which job provides greater career and compensation/benefit opportunities
3) Focus on excelling at one job that is a better fit and has greater upside. You'll perform better, be more satisfied and be able to earn more.
4) If compensation is the main driver to pursuing 2 jobs; identify the best full time job and then look to make additional $ through part time work that will not compromise your performance in the full time position.

Lloyd M.’s Answer

You can have two full time jobs, but you may want to think about how that would affect your work-life balance. Working two full time jobs would mean that you would either work 14-16 hours per day or 4 days 10 hour shifts and 3 days 12 hour shifts. Being in the workforce for over 26 years I would recommend having one full time job and if extra income is your goal maybe doing some side jobs such as consulting, part-time job, etc. Work-life balance is very important to your mental, physical and spiritual health as you will need time to unwind and build/maintain personal relationships outside of work.

Olga’s Answer

You may be able to, but why would you - it probably means that you are not passionate about either one. Choose the job that excites you and put your energy into it.
