My ultimate goal is to work as a cancer researcher, but I'm not quite sure which majors are best to get me there.

My son is a senior in college and majoring in biology. He is taking a tumor biology course this semester and is super excited about it. I think majoring in biology or biochemistry will get you the basics to go into the research field that you want. Once you get your bachelor's degree, you will have a better idea of what field of research fascinates you and then you can specialize your graduate degree towards that goal.

I would also recommend molecular biology for cancer research.

There is a clinical research major, however, I would not recommend this. Most clinical research positions require a minimum of Bachelor's degree, some are Masters degree required. There is no one specific degree that best prepares you to work in this field. A degree in nursing would set you up to venture into a variety of clinical research opportunities without pigeonholing you into one specific industry. Once you obtain your degree you would need to have a few years of clinical work experience prior to entering into research. Research companies rarely hire new graduates. Clinical researchers should obtain "Certified Clinical Research Coordinator" certificate to be competitive.

For me i know there are different courses you can offer and it will still lead you to cancer research. Courses like biological science, molecular biology, genetics, boichemistry and pathology will lead you to your interest.
