Social media marketing
May I know what are some go-to/required apps if I am looking to step foot into the social media marketing world without any prior experiences? Where can I get some useful free resources to build up my skills (SEO, marketing etc)?

Hi Chloe! I'd second the advice above on exploring design sites/apps like Adobe or Canva. In addition, Google Digital Garage offers a ton of free courses on SEO and marketing. They also have a certification you can earn for one of their digital marketing courses. I would also take a look at https://www.edx.org/search?q=social+media+marketing which offers a ton of free courses too, often from colleges.
In addition, I would consider signing up for a newsletter from a marketing publication like Adweek or The Drum, which offer great info on marketing campaigns and trends in these areas. These can help you get to know effective strategies and stay informed on what is being done in the social media space. Good luck!

Hi Abby, thank you! These are all really useful tips, I will definitely check out Adweek and The Drum. Take care and stay safe!

Hi Chloe,
I'd say if you're looking for a basic knowledge course, go on Coursera and they have tons of courses available on any subject such as social media marketing.

Hi Chloe, awesome question! I am not a social media marketing expert but google is always your friend! You can search things like "Social Media Marketing" tool or even videos that could help you gain some experience and shed some light on how everything works. One application that I have used is called Canva Design. It is free and a great tool that I used when doing the social media marketing for my organization. I encourage you to check it out and play around. It is great for making posts, presentations, or even resumes!
Hi Kellen, thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question. I will definitely do more research and see how I can level up my skills. Thank you!

Lots of great answers on here. I'll add a unique angle in that if you're interested in the data or more technical aspects of social media marketing, there are resources to read up on for paid social media marketing by going to the actual social platforms' business section. Paid social media is in reference to setting up "paid" ads on social (versus organic, free posts or content you put up from a social handle).
Each social platform typically has its own resources hub (like Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/business/ads) where they offer info for beginners on how to set-up ad campaigns. In some cases, it's free to set-up a professional account or ad account if you want to poke around, as I find it best to learn hands-on. Note you'll have to actually pay to run an ad, but sometimes you can get pretty far in the ad process if you want to get a feel for how the different systems work for ad set-up.

Hi Chloe - HubSpot has a plethora of resources that are usually free and easy to access. These resources can help you understand the basics to more advanced learnings around social media. You can also sign up for many virtual conferences these days that focus on marketing or social media.
Another great tool is to watch YouTube videos from experts in the field. For example, Gary Vaynerchuk is an expert in the field of social media and you can learn a tremendous amount from experts like him.
Best of luck!

There are great free social media marketing classes offered by Create & Cultivate. They have been hosting virtual summits featuring top influencers and agencies to share how you can improve your social media skills and grow your following. I look out for free codes using their summit hashtags on Instagram, and I'm able to save the $30-50 registration fee for these summits.
You can practice your social media skills by developing your own brand and content calendar for your own personal social handles. I also signed up for the Influenster App that allows you to participate in social media influencer campaigns.

Good luck Chloe! I built up my social media skills and had enough credibility to share an influencer marketing training for my employer. Keep up the hard work.
