Doctor: renowned university but not all setteled

What I keep wondering about is something like this: doing mbbs in India through government quota takes so much efforts and sleepless nights but what makes me think abt it is the fact that even after so much efforts not all doctors are owning huge hospitals or a lot of respect.. I see many of the top students in small clinics in small streets doing a day and night job.. With not much money and respect.. Why does this happen... It is obvious that in order to be a doctor one definitely needs the skill and knowledge aren't these kinda scenarios objecting these as though being successful with the occupation one is not able to succeed in left.. #doctor #humanresourcewaste #JULY20

Rahul’s Answer

Having recieved suggestions to change my profession, after having raised issues pertaining to the lack of ethics and manner in which senior doctors seem to be working at present (have experienced the nepotism from close quarters). Things have been different for doctors whose parents are also in the same profession, (the question of merit and marking at these prestigious universities is a a facile one). In fact, I believe that there is a caste system so perverse, that your survival merely depends upon following the herd. Given the prevailing circumstances, one can either opt for living a cloistered sheltered and safe life , or put oneself in the imminent danger of bieng a victim of one's radically rational thought process. Have experienced and continue to experience the lack of respect everyday. Infact, my day in the OPD today, started with an abuse bieng whispered into my ear, or maybe I merely imagined it. The truth is that organisations even autonomous ones, are bieng ruled by the pharmaceutical industry and and individuals who point to a nexus between the so called toppers and representatives from the industry are at the risk of bieng harassed, manipulated and vilified (not to say, out of a job). The political and social landscape of the country is changing fast and not for the better. There are no easy answers, only real life.

Shraddha’s Answer

Being a doctor is in itself a very noble profession and I have seldom found people not respecting doctors as such.

Now, whether the monetary compensation of a medical practitioner in India is commensurate with the level of efforts it takes to be one is a relative and personal issue. Most of the times, the doctors are not working for the money but for serving the patients to the best possible extent. In such cases, for them the job satisfaction is of more importance to them than the money. When this attitude of them becomes their habit, the respect also flows in.
