Focus on making great grades and studying for the MCAT. As you go through the application process, you will be talking to people that help see which medical school fits your future plans best.

The good medical school is the one you get accepted into.
Seriously, some have better reputations than others, but they are all similar.
Residency matters and where you go to medical school may effect that outcome.
As step 1 will be pass/fail...who you know or who knows you may even more important to obtain the residency of your choice.
It depends of you want to go into research, clinical medicine or both.
You should consider both DO and MD programs.
I always tell students to check the pass rate on Step 1 and see what percentage of the students match into residencies.

I went to a state university for medical school to save money. Private schools are much more expensive and everything I use on a daily basis was learned in residency (the training performed after graduating from medical school).
