Celeste’s Answer

I can tell you, personally speaking, that I ran into difficult times and if it wasn’t for a student loan I would have had to drop out. Of course, it may be a last alternative and you should try and ask family and friends and/or seek out scholarships. Also, please review the interest rate, amount of time to pay back loan and alternatives if you run into a problem paying back. Federal student loans may be the best alternative, but seek out advice from the financial aid department at the school you are or looking to attend.

DEFINITELY check out federal student loans by completing the FAFSA form - this will offer you financial aid depending on what your situation is, as well as assess if you are eligible for any scholarships, and provide student loan information. This form is filled out yearly, some people are able to borrow everything they need through federal loans. If you need to get private student loans I would definitely compare different loans to ensure you are getting the best deal. If you are touring colleges make sure to ask about their financial aid office and how involved they are with students. Try not to borrow any more than you need, because the interest really does pile on - a good financial aid counselor with the college you choose can help walk you through all of this! Also, check out https://studentaid.gov/ - there is a ton of great information!
