Majors alike oceanography, and where to find them.
I am a rising senior and am interested in oceanography. I have not been able to find many colleges that have this major. Should I look outside of the U.S.? Or is there another major that I should use in my search? I am leaning more toward the chemical side, but also want to look into the geological and biological side of it.

Hello, a great idea is looking outside the U.S. is amazing a lot of university have that or alike as Marine Biology that is very alike oceanography. There is a lot of countries as Australia that have master on that field! You can do research and look for universities outside the U.S. so you can be more familiar! As well they may not have a specific degree on U.S. but you can do courses of oceanography. Harvard have the course of oceanography if I’m not wrong is free online but as I recommend if you can paid to get the certified is better! So you can look at Harvard online courses and take that’s as advantage it will help you a lot to future career.

Two of the best schools for oceanography are in the United States: the Scripps Institute for Oceanography at the University of California San Diego, and the Woods Hole Oceanography Institute in Boston. I believe WHOI has a joint program with MIT as well. I also recall University of Miami (FL), Florida State University, University of Maryland, and University of Rhode Island having great programs. Finally, if you’d like guaranteed employment after, and pursuing an MS isn’t high on your priority list, you could also look into the United States Naval Academy.
