Michael’s Answer

Not hard, especially if you have a good work ethic and the two fields are somewhat related, ie engineering and computer science for example. But if you use your college electives wisely you can even double major in very different fields, I have a son is a college junior who is double majoring in neuroscience and philosophy. It just takes planning of your course work.

Hi Mariah,

I truly think that your majors and minors are guided by what it is you desire to do in life. Those majors/minors and interns should assist in getting you closer. The key is in strategic planning and scheduling!

The great thing is that, in many cases, several of your classes from one degree program can serve as electives in another. Also, you won’t have to take two sets of general classes. You just take one set and it counts for the other. You should first declare all of the majors and minors you want, so that you can set up advisement appointment to discuss with your on-campus advisors. Each advisor from each department should be able to assist.

Your expectation to finish a double major and double minor with one or two internships should take about 5-6 years. However, you must attend school year round (Fall, Spring and Summer). You will also need to let the financial aid office know in your Spring semester that you plan to attend Summer session. Keep your taxes up-to-date and complete all FAFSAs on time!!!

Maintain good study habits and attend school full time. I would say keep your credits for Fall and Spring between 15-16 credits, and around 12-14 in the Summer. Scheduling is key to your success.

Much success to you!
