It depends on the setting you're in. Some sonographers only work as a PRN, or pool, employee and work whenever they like, sometimes as little as 8-16 hours per month. Others work a 40 hour week with call hours on top of that, often going into overtime. Generally, larger hospitals will have more options as far as work schedules and FTEs offered.
