Is going to medical school abroad a better decision than studying in the United States?

I know that med school is on the high end expense wise no matter where you go, but if I were to study abroad, would the savings be outweighed by the stigma of going out of the country and the loss of opportunities to do interning/rotations in the US? Would the quality of education be similar? Thank you. I realize this is a very general question, but I'm considering going to Canada in particular. #medicine #healthcare #education

I went to medical school in the Caribbean. I’m not sure if that’s specifically what you had in mind. It is not more affordable than medical school in the US, it’s actually the opposite.

Amy, I think higher education should be free for the people who crave it. Going to Canada, Germany, or anywhere where higher education is free would reduce your burden massively; however, you might need to do a process to equate your degree to american standards whenever you come back. Do your research and ask about the process, because the last think you need is surprises.

It's not where you go, it's how much you learn. No matter where you graduate from you must still pass the medical boards. It would be a waste to have spent years in school and not be able to pass the licensing boards. Also, your Diploma hangs on the wall of your practice. It may be difficult to explain why you have an out of country medical school.
