Biomedical engineers also design prosthetics for those that have lost limbs. Their designs have made the prosthetics more comfortable and functional for patients.

Biomedical engineers design all of our modern medical equipment (e.g. CT scanners, MRIs, blood glucose monitors, EKGs). In the clinical world, we take these absolutely essential items for granted, but without biomedical engineers designing them, modern medicine as we know it would not exist.
