Rachel’s Answer

Volunteer at medical facilities if possible. Shadow physicians in fields you may be interested in. Pursue research opportunities in medicine if they arise.

Volunteer at your local hospital or low-income clinic. Try to find opportunities to shadow physicians, PAs or other clinical providers.

Stephanie’s Answer

Great question! Sign up to volunteer at a hospital or nursing home. One thing I learned while working in the hospital is that there are a lot of sick people who are alone. Some hospitals have programs where you can sit with these people, or even just helping nurses pass out meals and blankets. It will help you see if that is an environment that you are comfortable in. Healthcare is a LOT of charting these days.... so get as much input from the people on the "front line" as possible. :)
